ABOUT ME

I’ve been surrounded by music all my life. It started within my home as my parents exposed me to our Celtic heritage from a young age. This gave me a real sense of identity and nurtured a great love for Scottish and Irish Music. But other influences came quickly as both my parents played music for a living and in very different settings. Rock, pop, jazz, and country genres quickly became “normal” sounds in my head and my musical palette began to broaden.
As my first year of school approached, a new challenge arose; I would be living at home while my parents and two younger siblings travelled the world. Obviously this was far from ideal especially considering my tender age of 5. However, it is said that every disadvantage creates an opportunity and this theory proved true for what would not be the last time. My mom was a licensed teacher, having gone to teachers college after highschool, and so she brought my books on the road with us. Little did we know at the time, this would start what would become a 12 year homeschooling journey and one of the best decisions of our lives.
School on the road worked well for me and I was always very self-motivated. A normal day began with a trip to the pool in our hotel, then to the tour bus where I’d do my school work. After soundcheck, mom and dad would teach me music and then I’d have a nap before making a guest appearance on the show that evening. Life was good and I never wished for anything more “normal.” Soon, my siblings started school on the road as well and audiences began to expect our little features on the show. This made it more difficult to change the system in place. Besides, why tamper with a good thing.
Between tours, we had a vibrant home life. Living on a farm played an important role in grounding me and providing a sense of foundation. As much as I enjoy the urban lifestyle that comes with touring, I am a farm girl at heart and need that balance in my life.
As I approached middle school, mom became less involved in my education and I began working with tutors who could maneuver around my busy schedule. When the pandemic began, once again, what started as a grave disadvantage became an irreplaceable opportunity for me. While the rest of the world scrambled to implement new ways of learning and educating from home, I sank deeper than ever into the little system we had created. At the same time, mom and dad built a music studio in our home in order to finish their new album. That studio would become my life over the next three years. I began to write my own music which, along with my new found love of Latin music, led to the creation of my debut album, First Light.
Looking back, I can confidently say I grew the most in that time than in any other up until now. Music was always a passion but never something I considered as a career or a life path. I still don’t quite know how things have happened the way they have, but I am a firm believer in moving with the current and listening to life’s signals. My goal right now is to give back all that has been given to me through my greatest creative outlet: music. I have enjoyed this story so far and am very excited to see what the next chapter will bring. Welcome to the show!!
